Siu Ki hits hat trick as Hong Kong rout Timor Leste 8-1 (29-Oct-2007)
After winning a narrowly 3-2 in the first leg, the SAR team turned on the style against Timor Leste for an impressive 8-1 win at home and reserved their place in the next round of World Cup Qualifiers. The SAR team spent most of the game in the Timor Leste half and the visitors hardly troubling keeper Fan Chun-yip. Lo Kwan-yee scored the first goal on 3 minutes. Then, Kitchee striker Chan Siu-ki hit hat trick while Cheng Siu-wai scored a double. Lam Ka-wai and captain Cheung Sai-ho also scored one goal each. "I am happy with the way my players played today. Now, we will concentrate on our next game." said head coach Lai Sun-cheung.

South China climb to third place (23-Sep-2007)
South China moved into third spot in the HK league with a 2-0 win over Eastern at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday. Goals from Maxwell and Cheng Siu-wai were enough to give José Luis's men to bag full point. After a scoreless first half, the Caroliners broke the deadlock on 74 minutes through Maxwell's fury shot from a close range. South Chian made their numerical advantage count five minutes later with substituted Cheng Siu-wai converting Li Haiqiang's cross. After the victory, South China accumulated six points and climbed to the third place. In another match of the day, Kitchee beat Workable FC 3-1. Kitchee's Goran Stankouski scored a brace while Chan Siu-ki added another. Au Yeung Yiu-chung pulled one back for Workable FC in the 12th minute.

Sun Hei lose to Wihdat 1-0 (19-Sep-2007)
Convoy Sun Hei went down 1-0 to Jordan champions Al Wihdat in the AFC Cup quarterfinals first-leg at Mong Kok Stadium overnight. Giovane had a great chance in the 17th minute as his fury strike punched away by Al Wihdat goalkeeper Amer Sabbah. The visitors were the better side in the after the break. Ahmad Alzughier's late strike handed Sun Hei a crucial lifeline as they need to beat the Jordanians by as least two goals in the second-leg. "The overall performance was OK" said Sun Hei head coach Koo Luam-Khen "It is still all to play for next week and I hope we do not get any injuries in our league game."

Sun Hei beat Eastern 2-0 (9-Sep-2007)
Giovane scored a brace as Convoy Sun Hei beat Eastern 2-0 at Mong Kok stadium yesterday. Eastern, a local giants in 90's, were the better side in the first half. However, an experiencing Sun Hei side opened the scoring through a penalty kick in the 48th minute. Giovane scored in assuredly. Five minutes later, the Brazilian striker meet a Chu Siu-ki pass to made it 2-0. "Everybody played well but we still need time to rebuild our team." Eastern Managing Director Peter Leung Shou-chi said. In another match of the day, Workable F.C. came from two goals down to secure a draw against Wofoo Tai Po.

Kitchee beat South China in League opener (3-Sep-2007)
Kitchee scored an inspiring win over South China 2-1 in the opening match of HK League yesterday. After a tense and scoreless first half, South China gained an upper hand over their rivals through better teamwork. Li Haiqiang opened the scoring in the 58th minute through an excellent free-kick to put the Caroliners 1-0 ahead. But Kitchee cashed in on Chan Siu-ki's penalty kick in the 79th minute following a professional foul of Kwok Kin-pong in the box. Three minutes later, a fury shot near the box by Anderson give Kitchee a hard-fought win. "This match definitely give us confidence that we can win a close match against tough rivals." said Kitchee head coach Dejan Antonic. The other matches of the first round will be played on Saturday and Sunday.

Barcelona lift Mission Hills Cup (12-Aug-2007)
Barcelona lift Mission Hills Cup by beating Mission Hills Invitation XI 4-0 at Hong Kong Stadium yesterday. Despite rainfall, the Spanish giants kept its aggressive strategy. Barcelona scored three goals in the 21st, 27th and 35th minutes by Xavi, Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry respectively. And this was also the first goal scored by new signing Henry in the Asian tour. Mexician talents Giovanni dos Santos, who came on for Ronaldinho in the 63rd minute, scored the only second-half goal in the 83rd minute. South China's duo joins Yokohama F. Marinos (5-Aug-2007)
South China's Lai Man-fei and Chan Ka-chun has signed a one-year deal joining J-League giants Yokohama F. Marino as a part of the SCAA-Marinos exchange programme yesterday. Lai and Chan, are the most talents players among the Caroliner's youths, will be trained with the Marino's top team in the upcoming season. Marinos manager Hiroshi Hayano think that the duo were stability and solidity playing in a defensive role. They will be selected for the upcoming J-League competition if their abilities and performance satisfied the team. "It's a new experience for me and a great opportunity for me to go to Japan." said Lai. Meanwhile, South China's signing of former Japanese International striker Takayuki Suzuki from the Marinos will be announced within a week.

Portsmouth lift Barclays Cup (28-Jul-2007)
Portsmouth wins the Barclays Asia Trophy 2007 after beating Liverpool 4-2 in a penalty shootout at Hong Kong stadium overnight. After playing 90 minutes without scoring, the match immediately went to penalty kicks that saw Portsmouth's Matthew Taylor, Lomana Lua Lua, Hermann Hreidarsson and Nico Kranjcar all scored in, while Liverpool's Fernando Torres and Yossi Benayoun missed shots. Earlier, Fulham beat South China 4-1 to grab third place of the tournament. Flavio Barros scored the only goal for the Caroliners in the 56th minute.

Tycoon Carson Yeung swoops on Premiership (10-Jul-2007)
Carson Yeung, boss of Grandtop International Holdings Ltd., has becomes the single largest shareholder of the English Premiership club Birmingham City after buying a 29.9 per cent stake. Yeung's presence on the Birmingham board suggests the club will have more financial muscle to compete in the Premiership. There could also be benefit for the blues to expand their fan base in Asia. "This is the first time for a Hong Kong people to buy an English Premier League team" said Phillip Lee, secretary of Hong Kong Rangers. "He is a successful businessman and will bring us a new concept on football management." Meanwhile, Birmingham have completed the signing of French international midfielder Olivier Kapo from Italian Serie A giants Juventus.
